Brazilian stocks close October sharply lower after post-election repricing
Brazil’s Ibovespa ended October at 167,921.80 points, down 9.88% for the month and 18.12% over the five trading sessions following President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s reelection. The selloff came with a weaker real and sharply higher futures interest rates, while exporters generally held up better than domestically focused companies.
